    Greetings,

I am playing the game and just now noticing I have no bump maps or tessellation. I notice this because I was watching a vidoe for help on a quest, and the video is 3 years old and its game world look much much better then what I am seeing on max setting.

Looking at the screenshots on the website I can see some kind of tessellation or bump mapping.

My GPU is an AMD RX6700.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Perhaps you could post a screenshot and the reference image you're talking about?

So I just downloaded the client, not using the steam version, and seems to be working now.

    I'm running w11 too ...

This is max setting should look like ? THe Bridge still seems a bit flat, but now I am getting the tree working. Had to be a Steam issue ? When I first tried the game through steam, it looked like Runescape / everquest 1

Just for future reference, tessellation is the process of converting polygons into sets of triangles and normal maps are typically used to show tactile texture in surfaces. It's kind of a trick but it's visually more effective than bump mapping.

indeed. I should know that because I was teaching my self texturing in Blender. Earlier I was like "these look like trees I did in blender" cause non of the bark was "raised" , and now I can probably go back into my blender trees and add a normal map !

Bump maps are a thing of the Elder realm :)

Is SotA trying to use Steam's Shader-precaching ?

    I don't know, I don't play through steam.
