I play a ranger. I need str to max my health and have ability to carry heavier things. I need dex to be successful in hitting and dodging. I need focus to shoot my combos out. Wouldn't it be charming if non-mages have a dex-bar instead a focus-bar? Mages just need str and focus and dont need to raise dex. Or am I wrong?
Dodge. Everyones doing it! Not sure I care for all the different bars. They end up meaning the same thing. An exhaustable pool of X that determines keyboard spamming.
Air mages need DEX, so you're partially wrong. Air damage and effectiveness of other Air spell effects is increased by DEX and INT. Everyone always seems to forget that Air needs DEX for some reason. Plus DEX is good to have for any mage really. It increases your chance to be completely missed by enemies. What's not great about avoiding damage completely? That said, it doesn't make sense for archers and melee to use focus (which is based on your intelligence) to use martial abilities which should be based on your STR or DEX with a stamina bar for example. I'd say base it off of DEX though since it would be a little unbalanced for it to be based off of STR since STR is significantly easier to raise than either DEX or INT. Currently there are 8 skills that will increase your strength. For INT, there are only 2 skills that increase it. For DEX, there are 3 skills that increase it.
