I make a wish and then a question. In the view of the wax cylinders in the Crown Shop, we see the gray tube, but we don't know what music they have, could you make the music play when clicking on the cylinder, please? And is there somewhere I can listen to them? I have looked in the wiki but I have only found the soundtracks of the cylinders that are given together with the POT, but not those of the Crown shop.
You may or may not know you put wax cylinders in phonograph players https://sotawiki.net/sota/Phonograph_Player And sorry for the wax cylinder information on the wiki, that still needs a bit more work.
Oops, I expressed myself badly, I wanted to say if there was a place where I could listen to them before buying them at the Crown Shop. Thanks Anpu, yes I know the phonographs
Something like on Amazon Music where you can listen to a few seconds of each song to better be able to decide if you buy or not.
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to preview the whole song. When the preview window comes up with the wax cylinder then it should just start playing that song.
Loading the Audio Data of a specific Wax Cylinder in the Crown Store to just listen to it (which is a gigantic amount of data), might be something that could impede game performance? But no idea on that. Though a way to preview it would most certainly be nice. Perhaps these could be listened to in Hometown? In Game?
i was looking at this today. ravalox is going to work at it from the store end, but if that isn't feasible i can set up a display in hometown. probably in a basement. there are a LOT. on a drive is not the same thing as in memory. there was a recent fix because of that, affecting both deco containers full of cylinders and pages of the crown store.
It would be exactly the same as playing it on a wax cylinder player except the audio would only be heard by your client. Also, a wax cylinder graphic is not the audio. Music files in games are typically streamed from your drive.
i am aware. however, it was loading them into memory when you opened the container, or a store page, meaning it had the potential to try to load over 200 mp3s into memory AT ONCE.
i don't know why. that audio preloading was turned OFF with that bug fix. regardless, this is getting pretty far off topic.
@DavidDC has this working on qa. it'll be in next release. just like playing them in the game world, you'll need to have the phonograph slider on to hear it.
